Millennium Fund for Children
Small gifts, big difference
It takes a village to raise a child, and the Millennium Fund for Children is enriching the lives of children far and wide.
A partnership of Akron Community Foundation and the Akron Beacon Journal, the Millennium Fund makes grants to grassroots children’s programs where even a small amount can make a big difference.
The fund started in 1999 when generous people all over northeast Ohio donated their last hour’s pay of the year to create a permanent endowment to benefit children long into the 21st century. Each year, people continue to send gifts of all sizes, from a few quarters earned at a lemonade stand to hundreds of dollars from corporate leaders.
